Our Spoons Came From Woolworths by Barbara Comyns. Review

From the very first page I fell for this beautiful little book , now prepare for some gushing !
The story is told by Sophia , she is a young woman about to start married life with Charles who is an artist and a bit of a free spirit. I was chuckling along with this story as their family and friends are an eccentric bunch who seriously need to be examined but because Sophia has such a wry sense of humour you read this with a smile on your face as the story unfolds through her eyes. Young love and marriage is so adorably cute plus a little eye opening , and this was described so well it was easy to forget this was fiction ! The hopes and dreams  sprinkled with a lot of hiccups are all part and parcel of young married life and when told this well it makes this a really engrossing  story. P.S labour, caster oil and an enema are no woman's friend and this leads to much gratefulness that we have moved forward a lot in medicine !
I finished this book in one go and then went off in search of more books by this author. :0) Bliss!
